Manufacturer for Apple A6
Samsung used to be the manufacturer for Apple’s processors like A4 and A5. But due to the legal battle between the two companies over Galaxy smartphones and tablets its quite unlikely that Apple will continue with Samsung. Apple A6 is likely to be manufactured at TSMC.
Processor Production Technology for Apple A6
Companies like Samsung, IBM, and GlobalFoundries usually go for a gate-first processor manufacturing technique at 28nm. But Intel and TSMC go for gate-last technique in processor manufacturing. There’s no switching or clubbing the two. Which means Apple must redesign the entire processor shift from Samsung to TSMC. The architectural constraints of 28nm processor production are a great problem regarding manufacturer change.

Apple A6 expected specs
If the prevailing rumors go correct, the A6 will be a quad-core Cortex-A9 built on 28nm technology. This will make it one of the first 28nm processor in the market. Also Apple will be taking a great risk associated with being on the bleeding edge of the production when other smartphone companies use a processor built with another well-known quad-core design. Also Apple is expected to adopt 3D manufacturing. There must be radical changes in specs of Apple A6 as AppleA5X was largely the same as Apple A5.
